Old Fashioned Oat Cookies

  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 3 cups uncooked quick oats
  • 1 cup raisins

Combine flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and cloves. Set aside.

Cream margarine and shortening until smooth. Add sugars and cream well.

Add vanilla and eggs, one at a time. Stir in flour mixture and milk alternately.

Stir in oats and raisins. Chill for 30 minutes.

Drop by level tablespoonfuls of dough 2 inches apart on lightly greased cookies sheets. (I like to use parchment paper.)

Bake at 350 degree for 12 to 15 minutes until lightly browned.
